National Grid appointed Brown and Mason in 2013 to carry out dismantling and removal of 3 gasholders to the north west of London.

These complex works involved coordination of a number of third parties, as well as management of local stakeholders (all 3 sites were in built up areas). Brown and Mason’s performance led to the company being awarded in the categories of Most Considerate Land Regeneration Project and Outstanding Safety, Health and Environment performance at the 2014 National Grid Property awards.

Gasholder Demolition Sites

St Albans Gasholder Station

Residual de-watering of gasholders #61 and #62 followed by desludging.  Then complete dismantling and removal from site of both gasholders including the above ground tank structure, all associated above ground redundant pipework, below ground pipework associated with siphon pits, anti-flood seals, valves, steelwork and small plant items.

Rickmansworth Gasholder Station

Residual de-watering of gasholders #57 and #58 followed by desludging.  Then complete dismantling and removal from site of both gasholders including the above ground tank structure, all associated above ground redundant pipework, below ground pipework associated with siphon pits, anti-flood seals, valves, steelwork and small plant items.

Watford Gasholder Station

Residual de-watering of gasholder #64 followed by desludging.  Then complete dismantling and removal from site of both gasholders including the above ground tank structure, all associated above ground redundant pipework, below ground pipework associated with siphon pits, anti-flood seals, valves, steelwork and small plant items.  Work also included the demolition of the former switch room.
