Tearing Down A Bit Of Tilbury
Yesterday saw yet another addition to the Brown & Mason blow down portfolio, as we explosively demolished 3 sections of Tilbury Power Station, Essex.
At 14:00, an absolutely colossal bang resonated for miles as precipitators 8, 9 & 10 were hurled to the floor by the brute force of the cutting charges. During the station’s operation, these buildings served as a giant filtration system, limiting the harmful effects of the generated smoke.
The operation was meticulously conducted by B&M’s SHE Director – Alex Hadden and Project Director – Richard Brown, after months of planning and consultation. Alex commented: “Yesterday was a textbook blow down that marks the start of some great things to come at Tilbury. It was a highly successful event and as always I am grateful for the hard work of all involved.”
Representatives from the plant operator, RWE were also in attendance to witness the event and were greatly satisfied with the outcome.
Works are set to continue at Tilbury for the foreseeable future, with further blow-downs scheduled in the next couple of months.
